Coil Construction for Beginners Workshop April 21-22
This workshop is perfect for beginners who are interested in creating a beautiful piece of decorative pottery. The technique that will be taught during this workshop is coil construction, hand building.
Class is scheduled to begin at 10am on Saturday, and end instruction by 5pm. There will be break times within the day and a lunch provided for participants. Sunday, the class will start again at 10am, at this time participants will be continuing to work on their pieces from the previous day, so arriving after Sunday services will not leave much new information unknown to those who wish to attend their regular service schedule.
Class will wrap up at 5pm on Sunday. Pieces created by workshop attendees will be left with the instructor to dry carefully, and slowly over the following week to ensure they will successfully bisque fire in the kiln. The final firing after the bisque, is where the serendipitous color on the coil pots will develop. Attendees of the workshop are welcome to come to the smoke firing to see the process, but it is not required. The following days attendees will then be able to come pick up their pieces.
